Zermatt "Swiss Dream Trip" - March 8-20, 2022 In Planning Stage
Whenever I think of February, it brings to mind Valentine’s Day and the love we share for those special to us in our lives. It also brings out the best in us, as we travel to exciting destinations with our friends, old and new, sharing experiences and getting to know one another on a deeper level….or in deep powder sometimes as well! We have been skiing the February powder for many years and always find it a great time to be on the slopes!
David Pugh and Mike Beckman are leading the “Team Orange” February ski trip this year to Park City, Utah. We are happy to report Park City (Summit County) overall pandemic guidelines are less restrictive than some nearby states, so the trip is a go! Travel Committee also gave a green light to a new exciting trip to nearby Zermatt, Utah in March that Kathryn Hardage will be leading that sold-out very quickly. It seems there is a lot of pent-up demand out there for skiing. Its trips such as these that the OSTC Travel Committee is looking into on a “wait-and-see” for those good deals that we can pass along to members in these challenging times.
We have been experiencing much desired cooler weather and snow to our northern neighbors. After the snow melts, we’ll be heading out on some cool adventure trips as well. In May, Jackie Warren is heading out with a group on their Arizona Adventure to the Grand Canyon for some rafting and hiking. Later that month, Amy McClurg is heading down to the equator with a group to Machu Picchu in Peru to see one of the world’s most famous wonders with her adventurous group! When the snow begins to return next year in November, Dale Ulmer will be leading “Christmas Markets Along the Danube” adventure trip to Austria and Germany. Where else can one club take you so far west, south, and east in one year with so many adventurous friends with common interests!
Looking ahead to the 2021-22 season we have much in development. We have plans in the making for upcoming elections, board changes, socials, and outdoor activities--more info pending on that next month. For travel, we are returning to some longstanding favorite destinations with the Florida Ski Council, going to Taos, Lake Tahoe, and Zermatt with details forthcoming along with other destinations, both ski and adventure travel.
Good news, I recently read an article that cited travel helps to keep us young and living longer. What’s not to love about that…enjoy your Valentine’s Day everyone!
