Good Luck to our Machu Picchu Peru trip participants who leave on their wonderful journey just days from now! Interested in how you can receive an additional $250 discount on your trip sign-up for this coming year? We’ve put together a wonderful incentive for current club members to help grow our club by inviting new potential members. Invite your friends or co-workers to our Membership Drive at Wekiva Island in Longwood on May 15th and this is how it works : - If you are a current member and your guest attends this event on 5/15/22, signs up and pays for a new club membership by 5/17/22; both you and your guest will receive a $50 discount on your next 2022-2023 club trip! (i.e.; only applicable per membership)

What an amazing turnout we had for our End of Season Post-Ski Trip celebration at the Hangry Bison in Winter Park. Over 100+ folks gathered to enjoy a cocktail and appetizers, while meeting up with old and new friends created on our trips. This is by far our largest gathering to date. What a great way to end the ski season! I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge a very special group of people — our Trip Leaders this season: Steve Clark, Michael Beckman, Debbie Ashworth, Bob Mackey, Devin Coffy, Kathryn Hardage, Jackie Warren, and Amy McClurg! As an all volunteer run travel club, these folks all stepped up to coordinate with our trip wholesalers to facilitate our trips. They spend months of their personal time (years in Kathryn’s case!) working to prep and plan. As group travelers, we experienced some real challenges all in one season not normally experienced in past years - significant air delays, COVID, weather, injuries, challenges with dining/aprés-ski on mountain - you name it. All of our trip leaders rose to occasion to the best of their ability while still trying to enjoy their ski week as well. You are so appreciated! Patrick Murray! Time for the OSTC Member Highlight! Each month we feature a OSTC member to get to know one another better! Member highlights are nominated and voted on by the OSTC board, then that member will get the same set of Q&As! Read on for Patrick's answers: How did you get exposed to travel and adventuring, what brought you to our club? My first experience with the club was getting an opportunity to work with lifelong friend Steve Clark on putting together a summer whitewater adventure. I had spent over 20 years playing and guiding friends and guests down the Ocoee and Hiawassee River in Tennessee. Those trips introduced me to some great people who became friends outside of the club, folks like the Meiners and the Silverbachs. I have been a member ever since.
What is your favorite OSTC memory? One of my favorite memories was the incredible trip to Montana enjoying the Flathead Lake Lodge dude ranch, where we enjoyed everything from skeet shooting to mountain biking. Specifically, riding the firetruck through town up the mountain where we enjoyed music, friendship, and some deliciously grilled cowboy fillets for dinner was one of my favorite memories. This was the trip of a lifetime.
Where is your favorite place to travel to and if you could create your own trip, what would it be? Definitely, the Ocoee River region. I have this burning desire to adventure in Bali, Croatia, Seychelles, the Maldives. I have traveled to 39 countries so far.
Hobbies, talents and interests outside of traveling: My hobbies are kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, whitewater rafting, and spring hopping all over Florida. I also love volunteering in my community with my three daughters. We were blessed to have an amazing woman in our life who exposed us to making a difference in the world around us. The joy of helping others has been very fulfilling and my children love doing it. Making the difference in the lives of children and families has been a lifelong passion.
Fun fact no one knows about you: I competed in my hometown Dancing with the Martin Stars competition, where I danced a Salsa routine in front my kids and 500 people raising $15,000 for healthy mothers and babies. Most people don't know that after graduating from high school i took two summers traveling around the country following the Grateful Dead selling Neato Burritos on a skateboard and seeing some of the most beautiful sites this country has to offer. I am what would be considered a true Deadhead. | | | The Orlando Ski and Travel Club is a year-round, volunteer-run social organization with over 300 adventurous members whose winter activities center on snow skiing and snowboarding.
