   BIOLUMINESCENCE clear kayak tour

Friday, 9/27/19  7:30 pm - approx. 9:30 pm

Event leader: Steve Sovich    407-929-0132   OSCStevo@gmail.com

Kayaking is one of the most up-close ways to experience dinoflagellate bioluminescence (dino bio). And with clear-bottom kayaks, the experience is more immersive than ever! Now you can observe not only the blue swirls off your paddle but rushing under your feet. The momentum of the kayak gives the appearance millions of shooting stars soaring under you, and fish darting under you are like underwater fireworks. And if you’re lucky, you may even see a dolphin or manatee glide gracefully beneath.

Why clear bottom kayaks?  These are a finely crafted and mesmerizing new model of kayak. The Innovex material is not glass, but a highly durable plastic composite, like the overhead cock pits of fighter jets. The clear-bottom kayak doesn’t simply lay a window panel under you, but rather a fully formed inlay of Innovex that allows water (and so bioluminescence) to rise around you, preserving the full experience without compromising paddler safety.  See A Day Away’s video in clear kayaks: https://www.adayawaykayaktours.com/webapp/p/324/clear-kayak-bioluminescence-tour

For those interested we’ll meet at Dixie Crossroads at 5:00 for dinner (at your own expense).  RSVP for dinner to OSCStevo@gmail.com

We’ll meet at 7:30 PM at Beacon 42 launch point.  A Day Away Kayak outfitters will provide our clear kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices and will have guides to provide instruction and lead us on our 1.5 hour adventure (no experience necessary). For more information, see:  https://www.adayawaykayaktours.com/webapp/p/324/clear-kayak-bioluminescence-tour
